A list of restaurants we have visited with good steak.
For long-term expats in Thailand, finding quality beef can often be a common gripe. Even though Thai food is great, sometimes it's natural to crave some home comforts like a good steak. In this post, we will list, in no particular order, the restaurants we have visited for steak while in Chiang Mai. Whether you're in the mood for a tender filet mignon or a hearty ribeye, we've got you covered with our top picks for satisfying your steak cravings in Chiang Mai.
Arno's steakhouse has branches in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the Chiang Mai venue is located with the city walls, only walking distance from Tha Phae Gate. Click on the map below to open in Google Maps.
When visiting Arno's we had the house salad, tomatoe soup and a massive 400g rib eye steak as pictured below.
The prices for the items above were as follows:
House Salad: 80 THB
Tomatoe Soup: 150 THB
80 Days Ribeye 0.415KG: 1037.5 THB
The food was really very good and I would definitely return to Arno's. When you enter you can choose a steak from the large fridge in the restaurant all at different sizes. The steak I choose was so large, I was full for nearly all of the next day! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is in a very convient location. Highly recommeded.
As with Arno's , Duke's is part of a chain with a total of 4 branches. I went to the one at Maya Mall as shown on the map below. The restaurant is located on the second or third floor of the mall, I can't exactly remember which! However, a security guard or mall employee is sure to be able to direct you if you get lost! The side salad comes free with (I think) any meal you purchase at Duke's restaurant. I went for the filet mignon steak 250grams, which included a side (brocolli cheese). The total price of the bill was 1650 THB.
The food was good and the location is very nice if getting a seat beside the window there is a nice view. Will return for sure!
This restaurant is the very definition of a hidden gem. Nestled in the Nimman area, it is a French-themed establishment that I have dined at a few times previously. However, I recently discovered their ribeye steak, which was on special as of July 2024. Among all the places I have tried so far, this charming little restaurant stands out as a clear winner in terms of both quality and price. The steak was truly exceptional, and the staff were incredibly pleasant and attentive.
I got the ribeye cooked medium rare along with a side of ratatouille and a side salad, I am not entirely sure what type of sauce was given with the meal, but I do know it was very good!
Price
All in this was 700 THB for the steak and side

Honestly, this little French-themed restaurant in the Nimman area has to be one of the best places I’ve tried so far in terms of both quality and price. If you’re ever in the area, you have to check it out!
